one of my very favorite all time governmental ruses for giving exceedingly and undeserving wealthy people large tax breaks was the "trickle down theory" made especially famous by ronald "i don't recall that" reagan. normally they seem to just pretend that tax breaks are going to go all across the financial spectrum and so working class and poor people alike will benefit. at that time they felt like they needed to actually justify their selfish underhanded actions and so gave it a cute name and called it a theory. the theory of course was that the wealthy people of the united states would be so overwhelmingly flush with enormous wads of cash that it would apparently fall out of their pockets, windows and leer jets into the welcoming and deserving hands of the humble working class and underclass. which are pretty much one and the same. i don't know about anyone else but i for one, when i find myself overloaded with too much cash, want to immediately give it away so as not to be burdened. instead though, i just trickle it out to people i know, and strangers at large. ok so we can maybe agree that the theory didn't hold water, but since they really weren't asking permission they went ahead and made the rich richer while i think all of zero underclass folks held their breath as they waited for cash to start rolling in. if i remember that time period at all correctly the only thing that became overburdened were offshore bank accounts. not one to be bitter i just feel happy for the wealthy and overprivileged. can they help it if money is just handed to them?
on the other hand i started to think that maybe the wealthy, maybe at the club, or while rolling around in the "gold" room of their house didn't get the governmental memo that they were meant to pass on some of that gifted wealth. what i want to do, and plan to do is to find as many splendidly wealthy people's names, work places, numbers and email addresses as possible and put them on this blog so that anyone that reads it can look them up and ask them for their own personal trickle-down cheque. some of these folks probably were beneficiaries of the reagan years and never gave anyone a dime and so you should not be shy about figuring some interest into your estimate. i am certain that there is no way that the government could have made an error all those years ago, nor with the huge tax breaks they are giving them now, have always given them, and don't be fooled, will give them long into the future, and so i think it is up to us to keep the wealthy honest and make certain that the trickling starts now. never too late. i will do my best to give you as many email addresses and phone numbers as i can find. oh, and mailing addresses. you may have to spring for a self addressed stamped envelope. if we're asking for our trickle down cheque we don't want to be greedy by not doing our part.
thanks for reading. i think we can all make this economy thing turn right around if only we're given what was meant to be ours all along.
